Waiting List Application
If you are interested in joining Croydon School of Gymnastics, please complete a
Waiting List Application Form below.
The application will be forwarded to the club and our administration will add your child's name to our data base. You will be informed in writing or via email when your child is placed in the top 20 for their age group and will be offered a trial/taster session. The club aims to hold a trial/taster session once a term.
During the session, your child will undergo some tests in strength, flexibility and to see if they can do any basic gymnastics skills. All those that show potential and aptitude for the sport will be offered a place. Attendance does not automatically guarantee a place.
Those who are not successful the first time round may remain on our waiting list and will be offered another chance to attend. As we can only offer a place when a child leaves, spaces are limited, therefore if your child is offered a place you will need to respond quickly as membership is offered on a first come first served basis. If you delay, then the space may be offered to someone else and your child will be taken off the waiting list and you would then need to reapply.
Please be aware we do not allow parents to stay in the gym during the session. For the majority of the children attending, they will have never been on gymnastic equipment before. As parents could easily distract a child and cause a fall we kindly ask parents not to stay in the gym as coaches need the children's full attention.
However, we do understand the gym may be daunting for younger children, so we do allow parents to stay and watch the first 15-20 minutes during the warm-up period whilst the children settle in, but once the warm-up has finished parents will be asked to leave the gym and wait in our reception. For the safety and well-being of all the children attending, parents will not be allowed use any device which can record the warm-up or take photographs as this could lead to a welfare issue.
As a parent, you will no doubt want to know your child is in safe hands. Please be assured as a well-established club which has been running for 50 years since 1967 all our coaches are qualified through our National Governing body (British Gymnastics). They all hold an enhanced DBS, hold certification in Child Safety & Awareness and are First Aid trained too. The whole gym/building has CCTV in operation and no child enters a class or leaves the building unless registered in/out. We also have a Welfare Officer on site during these trials. So, your child will be taken good care of.
